1. How are you able to provide your meals at such a competitive price compared to Glenn College?
We are an independent operator engaged in providing the best service and value for money for students. The meals at Glenn College are provided by the college and are included in the Glenn College fees you pay.
However here at Eat@Menzies Café, we have to compete for your business – and we strive to do this by providing quality food, with exceptional service and at a competitive price.
2. Why are weekends not included in your Meal Plans?
We try our best to cater to the needs of students. We understand that many students will go back home during the weekends, go on trips outside university, or have meals outside College with friends. This is why we do not include weekends within our Meal Plans. At Glenn College, meals are provided all 7 days of the week, and any missed meals will be lost.
Therefore, if you do not plan on staying at College very often during the weekends, you can save over $700.00 a year by choosing Menzies’ Meal Plans over Glenn’s.
3. Can I ask for my meal as take-away?
Of course! All our meals can be provided in take-away form.
4. What if I miss a meal?
If you miss a meal, we provide you with the flexibility to retake it at another time within the next two weeks. Just make sure you come during our opening hours! For example, if you have an activity in the evening and know that you will have to miss dinner, feel free to come in during lunchtime and order something off our menu. Or alternatively, come in and take it at any other day within the next two weeks.
At Glenn College if you miss a meal, you will not be able to re-take it at any other time. All missed meals would be lost, and the money you have paid would be wasted.
5. What would I be having for breakfast?
We provide a take-away continental breakfast pack that can be collected the evening before. We understand that different students will have vastly different timetables and therefore our take-away packs allow breakfast to be taken at your own leisure.
Let us know what you would like in your packs, and we will do our best to cater to your needs. We have a selection of breads, spreads, cereal, milk, juice, tea & coffee to choose from.
You will find refrigerators and toasters in your shared kitchen areas on your bedroom floor.
6. What would I be having for lunch?
We have a large variety of sandwiches, focaccias (toasted or not), pies and pasta salads for you to choose from. If we don’t have anything you like, we can make you a sandwich or focaccia fresh on the spot with the fillings you want. You will also get a can of soft drink or bottled water with your meal.
7. What would I be having for dinner?
We offer a choice of up to three meat dishes and one vegetarian dish every night. The dishes varies every day and changes according to the season. These include pastas, rice, noodles, meats, pies, hot soups during winter and of course our campus renowned Chicken Parmigiana.
8. I am on a gluten-free diet, will I be able to join your meal plans?
Of course! We can cater for most dietary requirements. Please let us know beforehand or contact us if you would like to discuss.
9. Is your meat Halal certified?
All our chicken meat is Halal certified. Please contact us if you would like more details.
10. I’m living at Chisholm College, can I sign up for your Meal Plans as well?
Of course! Our Meal Plans are open to all students living in La Trobe’s Colleges and Halls. We understand that Chisholm College is currently without a café, and we will do our best to cater for your needs.
11. How do I pay for the Meal Plans?
The fees for our meal plans can be paid by cheque, electronic funds transfer or by credit card.

12. Do I get a discount if I pay in advance?
We offer three payment options. You can pay for the whole year upfront, semester-by-semester, or in four separate installments.
If you pay for the whole year upfront, you will get an additional 10% discount on the final price.
13. What if I have a suggestion?
We are always open to your comments and feedback. If you have any suggestions regarding the food we provide, we would always be happy listen and to make changes.
